Carlton Fields’ Tampa shareholder and chair of the firm’s White Collar and Government Investigations Practice Group, Kevin J. Napper, chaired the three-day 20th Annual National Seminar on Federal Sentencing Guidelines last week in Orlando. The conference was sponsored by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Criminal Justice Section of the ABA. It was a huge undertaking with numerous concurrent programs and many distinguished speakers (including federal judges from across the country) spanning the three days of the conference. There were 230 attendees (United States Attorneys, U.S. Probation Officers, Federal Defenders, and private defense counsel) from 36 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands – 64 jurisdictions overall. The conference was a great success and has received and will continue to receive widespread national publicity in white collar and judicial circles.
