Atlanta Legal Aid Society Names Catherine Salinas Second Vice President

Atlanta, Ga. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Atlanta Shareholder, Catherine Salinas, will serve a two-year term as second vice president of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. In January 2015, Salinas will take on the role of president of the society.

The Atlanta Legal Aid Society provides referrals and legal representation to people who otherwise cannot obtain access to the court system. The organization serves clients who have a viable case and reside in the counties of Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb and Gwinnett. Case work includes housing, consumer fraud, public benefits, employment, education, health, spouse abuse and child custody cases. They also represent those who are elderly, disabled and mentally ill, or who have AIDS, cancer or ALS.

Salinas has been actively involved with the society’s board and board activities since 2007. In addition to her role with the society, she serves as a board member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers Foundation and she is a member of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, State Bar of Georgia and Access to Justice Committee and the American Bar Association.

Salinas handles civil and criminal litigation in federal and state court, as well as corporate internal investigations and responses to governmental subpoenas and investigations. Her litigation practice currently involves complex insurance coverage disputes and other actions between insurers and their insureds. She received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law and her B.A. from Emory University.
