Late this afternoon, Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed Senate Bill 360 relating to growth management.
The issue of growth management was somewhat topsy-turvy in the Florida Legislative Session. Essentially, the Legislature wanted to loosen some of the restrictions placed on development during better economic times and “jump-start” infrastructure construction and development.
Among many other issues, the bill essentially exempts heavily populated areas from transportation concurrency requirements in Florida’s growth management laws that had the unintended consequence of encouraging sprawl.
