Carlton Fields’ Mac McCoy Appointed to Board of Directors of Florida Legal Services, Inc.

Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Tampa Shareholder Mac McCoy was appointed to the Board of Directors of Florida Legal Services, Inc. (FLS) on July 1, 2011. He will serve a two-year term.

FLS is a nonprofit organization that provides civil legal assistance to indigent persons who would not otherwise have the means to obtain a lawyer. A statewide support center dedicated to ensuring poor people have equal access to justice, FLS fulfills its mission primarily by working with local legal aid and legal service programs to improve their ability to provide legal assistance to those in need in their communities. Providing service delivery coordination, training, case consultation and technical assistance to all legal service providers in Florida, FLS also is the coordinating organization for the first in the nation comprehensive Florida Supreme Court Voluntary Pro Bono Attorney Plan.

Carlton Fields is recognized for its commitment to the communities in which its attorneys live and work. For more than a century, the firm’s attorneys have dedicated a portion of their work and time to pro bono and public service.

McCoy practices in the firm’s Real Property Litigation practice group with a focus on class action defense, RESPA litigation, and complex real estate litigation matters. He has received several awards and honors for his pro bono and community service work, including, most notably, The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division 2007 Pro Bono Award. McCoy received a dual B.A., magna cum laude, and his J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University.
