WEST PALM BEACH – Carlton Fields West Palm Beach shareholder James B. Baldinger was appointed Chair of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County’s Business & Professions Division.
The Division, established more than 15 years ago, provides business professionals an opportunity to become actively involved in the Jewish community and assist in fulfilling the Federation’s mission of strengthening Jewish identity, energizing the community’s relationship with Israel, and meeting the human needs of the Jewish community in Palm Beach County, Israel and 65 countries around the world.
As Chair, Baldinger will oversee the Federation’s educational, networking, campaign and outreach activities to more than 4,000 Jewish professionals, and he will supervise sub-divisions in the fields of Legal; Health Care; Financial Services; Real Estate; and Business/Insurance.
The Business & Professions Division has a number of programs planned for the coming months, including a series of topical Friday outreach breakfasts as well as a speaker series featuring nationally-known figures. Two upcoming signature events include:
- November 19, 2010: Breakfast & Networking Program featured a panel discussion, “Turning the Tides: Palm Beach County & The Recovery – Treading Water, Splashing Around or Planning the Next Wave?” with Palm Beach County Commissioner Steven L. Abrams, Brad Hunter, chief economist and national director of consulting at Metrostudy, and Jami Passer, vice president of shopping center developer Edens & Avant. Program was held at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts .
- January 6, 2011: “Legends Series” with Harvard Law Professor Alan M. Dershowitz. Program will be held at West Palm Beach Marriott and begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County serves residents from Boynton Beach to Jupiter and west to Wellington as the central Jewish community-building organization of the greater Palm Beaches.
A member of Carlton Fields' Business Litigation and Trade Regulation, Telecommunications Law, and Intellectual Property Practice Groups, Baldinger practices complex commercial litigation and provides advice and counsel to companies on security, electronic surveillance, and telecommunications law matters. He is an active participant and leader in the Jewish community, both locally and nationally, and previously served a two-year term as President of the Friedman Commission for Jewish Education of the Palm Beaches. He also served on the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the United Jewish Communities. He formerly served as Vice President of Business Security and Senior Corporate Counsel for AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. Baldinger earned his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1990 and his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987.
