Atlanta, Ga. – The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) recently featured one of its newest Fellows, Carlton Fields Atlanta Associate
Derek Harris, on their Fellows Program website. Harris has been a member of the LCLD Fellows Program since March 2011. The LCLD is an organization of corporate chief legal officers and law firm attorneys who are dedicated to creating a diverse legal profession. LCLD’s mission is to continue to promote organizations to hire, retain, promote and engage diverse talent.
Harris practices in the firm’s Business Litigation and Trade Regulation, Construction and Insurance practice groups. He is also an active member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and the hiring chair for the Atlanta office. He received his B.A. from the University of Delaware and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Carlton Fields has a genuine appreciation for diversity as it is one of the core values of the firm. In fact, for the third consecutive year, the firm ranked as the number one law firm in the country for "Overall Diversity," "Women," and "Minorities" in a survey conducted by the career intelligence company, Vault. The firm’s President and CEO, Gary L. Sasso says that diversity is not a program at the firm. “It is who we are, and it is reflected in everything we do.”
