Three Carlton Fields Attorneys Appointed To Florida Bar Leadership Positions

Tampa, Fla. – Three Carlton Fields attorneys have been appointed to positions of leadership within The Florida Bar.

St. Petersburg attorney Matthew J. Conigliaro and Miami attorney Jack R. Reiter have been appointed to the two highest leadership positions of The Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Section, Chair and Chair-Elect, respectively.

Tampa attorney David P. Burke has been appointed Chair of The Florida Bar’s Tax Certification Committee.

The Appellate Practice Section is devoted to promoting excellence in Florida's state and federal appellate courts. It’s also focused on enhancing the role and skills of members of The Florida Bar who are engaged in appellate practice through study, continuing legal education, the dissemination of materials on matters of interest and concern to the membership, and through the exchange of ideas among the membership of the section.

The Tax Certification Committee is responsible for overseeing The Florida Bar’s Tax Law Certification Program, which certifies attorneys as “Board Certified in Tax Law” if they meet the competency and experience requirements set by the Florida Supreme Court.

Conigliaro is Board-Certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in Appellate Practice. He concentrates his practice on appellate and complex commercial litigation. His work principally involves commercial and tort litigation, health care and products litigation, coverage, intellectual property, constitutional issues, dissolution matters, and pro bono criminal defense representation. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane Law School and his B.A. from the University of North Carolina.

Reiter is also Board-Certified in appellate law by The Florida Bar. He is responsible for handling and overseeing appeals at state, federal, and administrative levels. In addition to specializing in appellate matters, he also handles general commercial litigation and provides litigation support. Reiter has represented major corporations, administrative agencies, state and municipal governmental entities, and private individuals in all aspects of appellate practice. He received his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Florida College of Law and his B.S. from the University of Florida.

Burke is Board-Certified in Taxation by The Florida Bar. He practices in the areas of federal, state, and international taxation planning, and business planning; state and federal tax controversies including tax audits and appeals before the Internal Revenue Service and The Florida Department of Revenue; and tax litigation in the U.S. Tax Court (and other federal courts) and Florida Courts. He received his J.D., with honors, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and his B.A., with honors, from Cleveland State University.
