Carlton Fields ranked among the top 200 law firms in the nation, for the eighth consecutive year, in the June 2009 issue of The American Lawyer magazine. Carlton Fields improved its ranking on the list to #162 on the AmLaw 200 list. The firm ranked #179 in 2008.

64 attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Carlton Fields is ranked #1 throughout the state of Florida in Appellate Law (with six attorneys), Construction Law (with seven attorneys), Energy Law (with two attorneys), Mass Tort Litigation (with five attorneys), Natural Resources Law (with one attorney), Product Liability Litigation (with five attorneys).

The firm’s Construction practice ranked #1 for the seventh consecutive year, the firm’s Insurance practice ranked #1 for the fifth consecutive year, and the firm’s White Collar Crime & Government Investigations group ranked #1 for the second time.

Corporate Counsel Magazine Top 500 U.S. Companies
Carlton Fields was chosen as a “Go-To Law Firm” in the areas of Litigation and Labor & Employment by firm clients in a recent survey of the Top 500 U.S. Companies by Corporate Counsel magazine. The firms chosen by Corporate Counsel magazine as “Go-To Law Firms” make up less than one-half of one percent of all of the law firms in the U.S. and abroad.

More than 150 Carlton Fields attorneys have received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a Lawyer Peer Review Rating System which evaluates lawyers and law firms in the U.S. and Canada for ethical standards and legal ability.

The National Law Journal 250
Carlton Fields ranked #154 in The National Law Journal’s 2009 survey of the nation’s 250 largest law firms. Firms are ranked by the total number of full-time attorneys.

 

The National Law Journal Midsize Hotlist
Carlton Fields is included in The National Law Journal’s inaugural “Midsize Hotlist,” which recognizes the best midsized law firms (50-300 attorneys) in the U.S. The list represents law firms from across the country that have demonstrated “creative, innovative strategies to stay competitive.” The National Law Journal selected only 20 law firms that have used innovative ways to recruit and retain top talent, develop practice areas, manage their operations, and position themselves to stay on track during economic challenges.

Carlton Fields ranked #86 among the top 200 law firms in the nation in The American Lawyer magazine’s “Ranking the Firms: 2009 Pro Bono.” Carlton Fields attorneys averaged 37.1 hours of pro bono service and 51.4% of attorneys with more than 20 hours of pro bono work recorded last year.

 

Diversity Best Practices’ CEO Diversity Leadership Award
Diversity Best Practices recognized Carlton Fields’ President and CEO Gary Sasso as one of the winners of the prestigious 2008 CEO Diversity Leadership Award. This venerable award pays tribute to champions of corporate diversity for their exemplary leadership and for innovative and positive responses to demographic shifts in the global workforce and marketplace.

Human Rights Campaign (HRC)

Carlton Fields ranked #19 overall on the Minority Law Journal’s 2010 Diversity Scorecard.

 

MultiCultural Law Top 100 Law Firms
Carlton Fields was named in MultiCultural Law’s 2009 Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity list. The ranking is based on a diversity survey of minority and women shareholders and associates as a percent of the total number of attorneys, providing diversity totals for the firm. The survey was completed by 200 law firms nationally.

 

The American Lawyer Satisfaction Survey of Mid-Level Associates
In the nationwide rankings, Carlton Fields ranked 34th in The American Lawyer’s released Mid-Level Associate Survey. This is an improvement from 113th in 2008. The American Lawyer rankings are based on surveys of mid-level associates in 180 of the country's top firms.

 

The American Lawyer Summer Associate Survey
Carlton Fields ranked #21 in The American Lawyer’s Summer Associate Survey, an annual survey conducted nationwide that measures summer associates’ job satisfaction. Summer associates are law students that clerk at law firms through the summer.

 

The National Jurist’s Best Law Firms to Work For
Carlton Fields ranked 18th in the October issue of The National Jurist’s Best Law Firms to Work For survey. Law students from across the country were polled on what they are looking for in a law firm – the #1 answer was quality of life. The publication looked at what makes a law firm a great place to work, what firms have a work-life balance, solid retention programs, a commitment to training, and who is leading the charge and challenging the status quo. The National Jurist is a national magazine for law students.

 

South Florida Business Journal Business of the Year
South Florida Business Journal awarded Carlton Fields the 2006 Business of the Year Award in the category of Legal Services over $25 million. The award is presented to businesses which demonstrate concern for their employees, community involvement, and economic growth.

 

Florida Trend’s Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in Florida
Carlton Fields was named one of the Best Companies To Work For in Florida by Florida Trend magazine. The firm ranked 13th in the large company category. As part of the selection process, Florida Trend surveyed companies and their employees on each company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. In selecting the Best Companies To Work For in Florida, Florida Trend considered everything from how companies train their workers, to how they communicate, and the kind of pay and benefits they provide.

 

Florida Legal Elite
37 of the firm’s attorneys were selected by their peers as Florida Trend magazine’s 2009 Florida Legal Elite, a select group comprising the top two percent of lawyers practicing in Florida. Of the 37 attorneys selected for Florida Legal Elite, two attorneys are listed as Florida Legal Elite “Up-and-Comers.”

Florida and Georgia Super Lawyers
84 Carlton Fields attorneys were selected for inclusion in Florida Super Lawyers 2009 and 8 Carlton Fields attorneys were selected for inclusion in Georgia Super Lawyers 2009. Super Lawyers is a national directory that has been in business since 1990 and is currently represented in 50 states.

 

Sustainable Florida Award from The Council for Sustainable Florida
Carlton Fields was selected as a finalist for the 2008 Sustainable Florida Award for the firm’s sustainability initiative, CF Goes Green. The Sustainable Florida Award is presented by The Council for Sustainable Florida and recognizes organizations for their support of best management practices that protect and preserve Florida’s environment for the future while building markets for Florida’s business by enhancing competitive advantages today.

 

The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division
The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division selected Carlton Fields as the recipient of its 2008 Diversity Award. The award was presented on June 20, 2008 at the Diversity Symposium held during The Florida Bar Annual Meeting. The Diversity Award recognizes the person and/or entity that demonstrates the highest morality and respect for diversity. Carlton Fields was acknowledged for its efforts and dedication to creating diversity and promoting a more diverse workplace.

 

South Florida Legal Guide Top 100 Law Firm in South Florida
For the tenth consecutive year, Carlton Fields was named a Top 100 Law Firm in South Florida by the South Florida Legal Guide. 24 Carlton Fields attorneys were named among the Guide’s Top Lawyers in South Florida. In addition, eight Carlton Fields attorneys were listed as Up-and-Coming. The South Florida Legal Guide’s annual survey determines its lists by polling hundreds of lawyers in South Florida for their recommendations. The Top Lawyers list is out of a total pool of about 23,000 members of The Florida Bar in South Florida, resulting in a published list of roughly the top one percent of the area’s attorneys.
