Fla. $200M Red-Light Camera Class Action Tossed

Carlton Fields Shareholder Kevin McCoy was quoted in Law360’s article, “Fla. $200M Red-Light Camera Class Action Tossed,” highlighting the recent dismissal of a 200 million-dollar class action case that disputed local governments’ use of private vendors for red-light camera ticket programs.
 
The case, brought by civilian motorists, was rejected after the Florida Supreme Court affirmed the legality of arrangements between local counties and third-party contractors, such as American Traffic Solutions, to issue citations for red-light infractions.
 
McCoy, who serves as American Traffic Solutions’ attorney, stated, “This was a long road that crisscrossed the courts at state and federal levels, but it achieved the right result.”
