Distinguished IP Lawyer Eleanor M. Yost Joins Carlton Fields

Washington, D.C. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Eleanor M. Yost, an intellectual property and government contracts lawyer, has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a shareholder. Yost practices in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. She joins the firm from Goodwin Procter LLP, where she was a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation group and chair of its Government Contracts & Disputes Practice.

Yost represents clients in a broad range of intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark prosecution, appeals, opinions, licensing, and transactions. She also litigates high-stakes intellectual property disputes across the country, and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the United States Patent & Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). In addition to her intellectual property practice, Yost frequently assists clients navigating government contracts and procurement issues.

Yost is an in-demand thought leader on the subject of PTAB post-grant proceedings, and has been featured on the topic in publications around the world. She serves on the faculty for bar and industry-related legal conferences on PTAB issues routinely and has counseled clients in connection with dozens of PTAB inter partes review, covered business method review, and post grant review proceedings, and related appeals to the Federal Circuit.

Yost has also held leadership positions with a variety of national bar organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the national PTAB Bar Association and is Secretary of the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s Post-Grant Patent Practice Committee. She is also a prolific writer, authoring PTAB Post Grant Proceedings: A Tactical Guide for Practitioners, and co-authoring several other books on intellectual property and government contracts law.
