Six Carlton Fields Attorneys Elected to Shareholder

Carlton Fields is pleased to announce the election of six new shareholders in various offices and practice and industry groups at the firm’s 2022 Annual Shareholders Meeting held virtually this month.

Associates Elected to Shareholder:

Caycee Hampton (Tampa) is a litigator concentrating on national and local defense of complex litigation for pharmaceutical, medical device, and cosmetic manufacturers in federal and state courts. Her practice includes general product liability, mass tort, premises liability, medical malpractice cases, and class action claims. Hampton has experience advising health care industry clients on regulatory and compliance matters, including licensing, accreditation, and fraud and abuse issues, as well as assisting clients facing government investigations by state and federal agencies. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Florida.

Alex B. Silverman (New York) represents U.S. and international insurers, reinsurers, and other businesses in complex commercial litigation and arbitration, including insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance matters. He regularly litigates and counsels insurers and reinsurers in connection with multimillion-dollar first-party and third-party claims in state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums across the country. Silverman also represents businesses in a range of complex commercial litigation, including breach of contract disputes, pharmaceutical product liability actions, shareholder derivative actions, and intellectual property matters. He received his J.D., magna cum laude and with highest honors, from New York Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Rhode Island.

Of Counsel Elected to Shareholder:

Steven T. Anapoell (Los Angeles) is an experienced business transactional, securities, and tax lawyer whose practice focuses on private equity, fund formation, joint ventures, private securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. He has served as lead corporate and securities counsel in the design, structure, or documentation of some of the largest private real estate offerings in the U.S., involving approximately $2 billion. His experience also includes a wide range of other industries, including technology and software, entertainment, renewable energy, oil and gas, sporting goods, life settlements, and medical devices. He earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, and his B.S from the University of California, Berkeley.

Simon Gaugush (Tampa) focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, the representation of attorneys under investigation by government authorities, health care-related investigations and prosecutions, opioid-related litigation, corporate internal investigations, cyber offenses, False Claims Act (qui tam) cases, and complex civil litigation. From January 2008 through September 2019, Gaugush served as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida. He concluded his tenure at the U.S. attorney’s office as the deputy chief of the Criminal Division, where he oversaw the prosecution activities of more than 85 federal prosecutors throughout the district. Gaugush has extensive experience conducting grand jury investigations and handling countless evidentiary hearings. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and his B.A. from American University.

Stephen Glatter (Washington, D.C.) represents real estate lenders in transactions, primarily multimillion-dollar mortgage loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). He has closed hundreds of FHA commercial transactions in numerous U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development offices nationwide. Those transactions include federally insured loans for multifamily housing and health care under FHA/HUD programs. Glatter also counsels mortgage servicers on construction servicing issues, post-closing issues, workouts, assignments of non-performing assets to FHA, and interest rate reductions. He has closed mortgage loans for securitization in capital markets, including loans for the construction and permanent financing of commercial real estate. Glatter received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from George Washington University.

Matthew H. Jacobson (Miami) concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial lending and real estate transactions, and real estate litigation. He represents financial institutions and borrowers in lending workouts and complex commercial loan transactions, including asset-backed loans, permanent loans secured by real estate, collaborative modifications, and distressed asset sales. He is well-versed in handling real estate-related due diligence in financing and corporate acquisition transactions as well as advising and representing private lenders. Jacobson also counsels clients concerning title-related matters, commercial leasing issues, and real estate-related litigation, including disputes concerning purchase and sale agreements, leases, property claims, foreclosures, and title insurance coverage claims. He received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School and his B.A. from Kenyon College.
