  • Diversity

    For the 13th consecutive year, Carlton Fields received a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

    For more than a decade, Carlton Fields has ranked among the country’s top law firms for creating, maintaining, and fostering a diverse workplace, according to Vault Law. The firm ranked in the top 10 firms for Racial and Ethnic Diversity and in the top 20 firms for Overall Diversity and Diversity for LGBTQ+ Individuals in Vault’s 2023 Best Law Firms for Diversity.

    Carlton Fields was named a top-ranked firm for diversity among firms of its size by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. The inaugural MCCA Diversity Scorecard evaluates law firm diversity based on demographics, leadership composition, and the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse lawyers.

    Carlton Fields is recognized as one of the top law firms in the nation for female attorneys in Law360’s 2022 Glass Ceiling Report. Carlton Fields ranks No. 6 among firms with 251–600 attorneys with the highest representation of minorities in their equity partnerships and No. 18 for overall representation of minority attorneys in Law360’s 2022 Diversity Snapshot.

    Carlton Fields was ranked No. 13 on The American Lawyer’s 2022 Diversity Scorecard, a ranking of law firms based on the percentage of diverse lawyers in their U.S. offices.

    Carlton Fields was recognized by Leadership Council on Legal Diversity for its efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession and named as a 2020 Top Performer. The designation is given to corporations and law firms that commit the most time and energy to its programs. The firm has been a leader of the LCLD since it was founded in 2009.

    We were also chosen as a “Go-To Law Firm” in the areas of Litigation and Labor & Employment by firm clients in a survey of the top 500 U.S. companies conducted by Corporate Counsel magazine. The firms selected by Corporate Counsel make up less than one-half of one percent of the world’s law firms.

    Carlton Fields earned national first-tier rankings for six of its practices in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” guide. The firm also received high rankings for a multitude of its practices in several metropolitan areas. Additionally, 147 Carlton Fields attorneys were included in  The Best Lawyers in America 2023© and nine firm attorneys were named to the 2023 “Lawyers of the Year” list, a designation given to only one lawyer in each specific practice area and geographic region. One-hundred and sixteen attorneys are on the Best Lawyers lists, and 31 were named to the Ones to Watch list.

    Carlton Fields is recognized as a top law firm in the 21st annual BTI Client Service A-Team 2022 report, a designation limited to law firms that deliver unparalleled client service. This is the only law firm ranking that identifies top law firms for client service though a national survey of corporate counsel. The firm has been included in this report for more than a decade.

    Carlton Fields was recognized by corporate counsel as a “Litigation Leader” in class actions, complex employment litigation, and product liability litigation, as well as an overall top firm in complex commercial litigation in BTI Litigation Outlook 2022: Post-Pandemic and Beyond. BTI’s annual survey identifies top law firms to which corporate counsel will turn for their most pressing litigation needs.

    Carlton Fields is ranked among the largest U.S. law firms in The American Lawyer’s 2022 Am Law 200 ranking and the National Law Journal’s annual survey of the 250 largest U.S. law firms based on the number of attorneys.

    Carlton Fields’ Construction Practice is consistently recognized as a national leader. Carlton Fields is ranked No. 17 nationally in Construction Executive's “Top 50 Construction Law Firms” list.

    For the fifth consecutive year, Carlton Fields was named the “Top Insurance Firm” by JD Supra. Only one law firm earned the “Top Law Firm” designation in each of the 28 categories covered by the 2022 JD Supra Readers’ Choice Awards. The Readers’ Choice Awards recognize top authors and firms who were read by C-suite executives, in-house counsel, media, and other professionals across the JD Supra platform.

    In 2022, 54 Carlton Fields attorneys were included in Florida Super Lawyers. One Carlton Fields attorney was included in the 2022 issue of Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers and New Jersey Super Lawyers, and four were included in the 2022 issue of Southern California Super Lawyers. Three of the firm’s Hartford attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2022 issue of Connecticut Super LawyersThree New York attorneys were recognized in the 2022 issue of New York Metro Super Lawyers.

    Florida Trend’s peer-selected 2022 Florida Legal Elite list included 14 Carlton Fields attorneys. Carlton Fields is one of the top seven firms with the most attorneys on the list. Of the Carlton Fields attorneys chosen, six were also recognized on the Legal Elite Hall of Fame list.

  • Pro Bono and Community Leadership

    Lawyers for Children America (LFCA), a nonprofit child advocacy organization, honored Carlton Fields with the 2018 Pro Bono Law Firm Award. Our attorneys provide pro bono services to LFCA’s minor clients, and the firm sponsors LFCA training programs that help recruit and train attorneys to do the same.

    Carlton Fields was honored with the 2019 Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm Award from the Thirteenth Judicial Pro Bono Committee and the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Bay Area Legal Services for outstanding pro bono service to the local community.

    Carlton Fields was the 2018 recipient of the Legal Services of Greater Miami’s Equal Justice Pro Bono Large Firm Award. The award honors our attorneys’ pro bono contributions, including providing corporate and business advice for nonprofits and minority businesses, assisting in name changes for the transgender community, and handling probate matters for veterans.

  • Workplace Excellence

    In 2020, Carlton Fields ranked 11th nationally in The American Lawyer’s Midlevel Associates Survey. Rankings are based on surveys of midlevel associates in 180 top U.S. firms.

    Vault’s 2021 survey of the nation’s largest law firms ranked Carlton Fields in the top 50 "Best Law Firms to Work For," and in the top 25 for Technology and Innovation.
