  • Diversity
    For the 10th consecutive year, Carlton Fields received a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, which rates businesses according to their treatment of LGBTQ employees, consumers, and investors.

    For more than a decade, Carlton Fields has ranked among the country’s top 15 law firms for creating, maintaining, and fostering a diverse workplace, according to the Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms. Carlton Fields is just one of three law firms ranked in the top 10 of all five of Vault’s diversity rankings, which includes “Overall Diversity,” “Diversity for Women,” “Diversity for Racial Minorities,” “Diversity for LGBTQ Individuals,” and “Diversity for Individuals with Disabilities.” Vault provides inside information on careers with thousands of companies in dozens of industries.

    Carlton Fields is recognized among the most diverse law firms in the country, ranking in the top 10 nationally among firms of its size in Law360’s 2019 Glass Ceiling Report for “The Best Law Firms for Female Partners” and in Law360’s 2019 Diversity Snapshot for “The Best Law Firms for Minority Equity Partners” and “The Best Law Firms for Minority Attorneys.”

    Carlton Fields has been listed over the years in the top 25 on The American Lawyer’s Diversity Scorecard, a ranking of law firms based on the percentage of diverse lawyers in their U.S. offices.

    Carlton Fields was honored to receive the 2016 T-Mobile Legal Department Diversity Excellence Award. The annual award recognizes a law firm with strong associate and equity partner diversity, as well as exceptional diversity programs and policies.

    For the second consecutive year, Carlton Fields was recognized by Leadership Council on Legal Diversity for its efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession and named as a 2018 Top Performer. The designation is given to corporations and law firms that commit the most time and energy to its programs. The firm has been a leader of the LCLD since it was founded in 2009.
     
  • Legal Practice Excellence

    In 2019, 11 of the firm’s practices and 27 of its attorneys were ranked among the top in Connecticut, Florida, and nationally by Chambers USA. The following firm practices were ranked No. 1:

    We were also chosen as a “Go-To Law Firm” in the areas of Litigation and Labor & Employment by firm clients in a survey of the top 500 U.S. companies conducted by Corporate Counsel magazine. The firms selected by Corporate Counsel make up less than one-half of one percent of the world’s law firms.

    Carlton Fields earned national first-tier rankings for four of its practices in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” guide. The firm also received high rankings for a multitude of its practices in several metropolitan areas. Additionally, 86 Carlton Fields attorneys were included in The Best Lawyers in America 2020©, and six firm attorneys were named to the 2020 “Lawyers of the Year” list, a designation given to only one lawyer in each specific practice area and geographic region.

    For the 10th consecutive year, Carlton Fields was named to the BTI Client Service A-Team, a designation limited to law firms that deliver unparalleled client service. This is the only law firm ranking that identifies top law firms for client service though a national survey of corporate counsel.

    Carlton Fields is a “Litigation Powerhouse” according to BTI Litigation Outlook 2019: Changes, Trends, and Opportunities for Law Firms. BTI’s annual survey identifies top law firms to which corporate counsel turn for their most pressing litigation needs. Corporate counsel also singled out Carlton Fields as one of the most innovative law firms, providing the most impactful and robust innovation and technology strategies, according to BTI Legal Innovation and Technology Outlook 2019: Clients Rank Their Needs and Law Firm Performance.

    Carlton Fields is ranked among the largest U.S. law firms in The American Lawyer’s 2019 Am Law 200 ranking and the National Law Journal’s annual survey of the 250 largest U.S. law firms based on the number of attorneys.

    More than 150 Carlton Fields attorneys have received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a lawyer peer review rating system that evaluates lawyers and law firms in the United States and Canada for ethical standards and legal ability.

    Carlton Fields’ Construction Practice is consistently recognized as a national leader. Carlton Fields is ranked No. 16 nationally in Construction Executive's inaugural “Top 50 Construction Law Firms” list.

    Carlton Fields was named the “Top Insurance Firm” by JD Supra. Only one law firm earned the “Top Law Firm” designation in each of the 26 categories covered by the 2019 JD Supra Readers’ Choice Awards. The Readers’ Choice Awards recognize top authors and firms who were read by C-suite executives, in-house counsel, media, and other professionals across the JD Supra platform.

    In 2019, 79 Carlton Fields attorneys were included in Florida Super Lawyers, and five were included in Georgia Super Lawyers. Two Carlton Fields attorneys were included in Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers, and one was included in Southern California Super Lawyers. Three of the firm’s Hartford and New York attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2018 issues of New England Super Lawyers and New York Metro Super Lawyers, respectively.

    Florida Trend magazine’s peer-selected 2019 Florida Legal Elite included 19 Carlton Fields attorneys. As a group, they comprise less than 1.3% of lawyers practicing in Florida. Of the Carlton Fields attorneys chosen, five were also recognized on the Legal Elite Hall of Fame list, and one was listed as an “Up & Comer.” Additionally, Carlton Fields ranks in the top five firms in Florida with the most women honorees.

  • Pro Bono and Community Leadership
    Lawyers for Children America (LFCA), a nonprofit child advocacy organization, honored Carlton Fields with the 2018 Pro Bono Law Firm Award. Our attorneys provide pro bono services to LFCA’s minor clients, and the firm sponsors LFCA training programs that help recruit and train attorneys to do the same.

    Carlton Fields was honored with the 2019 Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm Award from the Thirteenth Judicial Pro Bono Committee and the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Bay Area Legal Services for outstanding pro bono service to the local community.

    Carlton Fields was the 2018 recipient of the Legal Services of Greater Miami’s Equal Justice Pro Bono Large Firm Award. The award honors our attorneys’ pro bono contributions, including providing corporate and business advice for nonprofits and minority businesses, assisting in name changes for the transgender community, and handling probate matters for veterans.
     
  • Workplace Excellence
    In 2014, Carlton Fields ranked 27th nationally in The American Lawyer’s Mid-Level Associate Survey. Rankings are based on surveys of mid-level associates in 180 top U.S. firms.

    Vault’s 2020 survey of the nation’s largest law firms ranked Carlton Fields in the top 50 Best Law Firms to Work For, in the top 25 for Technology and Innovation, and No. 29 in Integration of Laterals and Clerks.
