Brian Olasov Quoted in Commercial Real Estate Direct Staff Report

Carlton Fields Executive Director – Financial Services, Brian Olasov, was quoted in the Commercial Real Estate Direct Staff Report article, “No Blue Wave in Congress; Prop 10 Fails in California,” regarding the recent block of Proposition 10, the local rent control initiative in the state of California.
 
Proposition 10 proposed establishing rent rules on units that were vacated.
 
Supporters of the proposition argued that rent rules were needed to control housing costs, while those opposed noted that further regulations would dampen the housing industry.
 
Both sides are expecting changes to the housing, banking, insurance, and securities industries, particularly now that leadership of the House Committee on Financial Services leader has been passed from Jeb Hensarling to Maxine Waters.
 
"Whatever you think politically about Maxine Waters, passing the gavel from a Tea-Party Dallas conservative, Jeb Hensarling, to a California activist like Waters is head-snapping," stated Olasov.
