Litigation Daily interviewed Jack Clabby for its Q&A article, “Class Action Defense Costs Are Rising. Are Defense Firms Benefiting? Not All of Them.” In the article, Clabby discusses Carlton Fields’ 2023 Class Action Survey, which found that while companies are spending more to defend against class action lawsuits, the number of in-house attorneys dedicated to handling class actions and the amount of time they focus on them is on the decline.

When asked about the rise in cost, Clabby stated, “[M]ore companies are being sued. And the cost of the defense per matter is actually higher. So those are the two main drivers. But we're also seeing class action defense costs rise as a percentage of overall defense costs.”
