Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields Associate Steven Blickensderfer recently earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), the global standard in privacy certification, through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
He received his CIPP/US designation upon passing the CIPP/US examination. By earning this credential, he demonstrated knowledge of:
- S. privacy and security laws, regulations, standards, and enforcement models as they pertain to the private sector, including those related to health/medical information, financial information, educational information, telecommunications, marketing, and workplace privacy
- Essential privacy concepts and principles and their practical applications
- Legal requirements for the responsible handling and transferring of sensitive personal data to/from the US, the EU, and other jurisdictions
Mr. Blickensderfer is a member of the firm’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Task Force. With a focus on U.S. private sector laws, he is qualified to counsel clients in data breach response, policy drafting and implementation; cross-border data transfers; compliance with laws governing the collection, storage, use and disposal of sensitive information; and litigation arising out of data breaches and related data privacy issues.

Mr. Blickensderfer is located in the Miami office of Carlton Fields where he focuses on all aspects of appellate litigation in both federal and state court and has argued in several Florida appellate courts, including the Florida Supreme Court. His areas of concentration include data privacy, complex commercial and tort cases, products liability, securities and real property cases, insurance coverage, and consumer finance.
He received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of South Florida.
