Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Miami Office Co-Managing Shareholder Steven J. Brodie will be recognized as the legal honoree at the University of Miami’s Ninth Annual Law Alumni Association Homecoming Golf Tournament.
Brodie graduated
cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 1981. Since then, he has remained deeply committed to his alma mater. He served on the university’s Board of Trustees and is a past president of the University of Miami Citizens Board, a select group of business and civic leaders who support the university’s philanthropic efforts and promote UM programs. Brodie has also served as a member of the law school’s Visiting Committee.
“Steve is not just a nationally recognized attorney and community leader, but also a loyal and dedicated alumnus of the University of Miami and the School of Law,” said Harout J. Samra, Vice President of Activities and Homecoming Chairman of the Law Alumni Association. “We are proud to recognize him for his professionalism, integrity, and exemplary dedication to the ‘U.’ We are fortunate for his leadership and continued service.”
At Carlton Fields, Brodie co-chairs the firm’s national Property & Casualty Insurance practice and Insurance industry groups. He has extensive experience in insurance-related litigation, as well as commercial litigation, including securities and class actions. His clients include
Fortune 100 companies, major insurers, financial services companies, telecommunications firms, institutional lenders, and developers.
The Homecoming Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 at International Links Melreese Country Club. Proceeds benefit the law school’s Paul & Terrance Dee Memorial Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded annually with preference given to students who have an interest in sports law. Alongside Brodie, this year’s tournament will recognize sports honoree Gregory Mark, a former UM football player and defensive line coach.
