Carlton Fields is pleased to welcome attorney J. Coy Stull, an experienced patent attorney and intellectual property litigator. Stull will work from the firm’s Washington, D.C. and Tampa offices as a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group.

“Coy has spent more than a decade guiding clients in a variety of IP litigation and other matters, particularly in the life sciences industry,” said William “Ty” Giltinan, chair of Carlton Fields’ Intellectual Property practice group. “We are thrilled that he’s joining us.”

Stull represents clients in federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and Patent and Trademark Office administrative proceedings (PTAB/TTAB). His experience spans all stages of litigation, including trials and appeals. Stull litigates cases in a wide variety of technological areas, including consumer products, industrial processes, nanomaterials, polymers, pharmaceutical compositions, methods of drug delivery and treatment, small molecules, natural products, medical diagnostic devices, and veterinary products. He is the chair of the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s Hatch-Waxman/BPCIA subcommittee.

Outside of his intellectual property practice, Stull devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono matters, including representing veterans seeking service-related disability benefits before the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He also has represented tenants and family law clients in the D.C. Superior Court. He volunteers frequently at the DC Bar Pro Bono Center’s Landlord and Tenant Resource Center and Small Business Advice Clinics.

“Carlton Fields’ reputation for quality and service, along with its growing intellectual property team, make the firm a great fit for my practice,” Stull said.

Stull earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, and his B.S. in chemical engineering, with honors, from the University of Florida.
