Chael J. Clark Joins Carlton Fields’ Property & Casualty Insurance Practice in New York

New York, N.Y.Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Chael J. Clark has joined the firm’s New York office as an associate. He is a member of the firm’s Property & Casualty Insurance practice. 

With the addition of Clark, Carlton Fields continues the expansion of its nationwide team serving the property and casualty insurance industry. In 2019, the firm opened a New Jersey office that is home to five attorneys dedicated to property and casualty insurance clients. The practice also recently added attorney Matthew E. Lewis in Orlando. Carlton Fields’ insurance practice ranks No. 1 in the country for the 15th consecutive year by Chambers USA. The firm also earned national rankings in Insurance Law in the 2020 U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers® Best Law Firms guide.

“Chael is a terrific addition to our national insurance litigation practice,” said Steven J. Brodie, co-chair of Carlton Fields’ Property & Casualty Insurance Practice Group. “He is an experienced commercial and business litigator who has handled a broad array of complex disputes at the state, federal, and international level.”

Robert W. DiUbaldo, co-chair of the firm’s Property & Casualty Insurance Practice Group, added, “Chael’s experience in complex commercial and insurance disputes bolsters our existing practice representing insurers in representation and warranty insurance matters, banking and fidelity claims, and directors and officers (D&O) liability claims.”

Clark’s background includes representing financial institutions and other corporations in commercial and securities litigation, internal investigations, merger and acquisition disputes, and regulatory enforcement matters. He has handled multiple disputes involving mergers and acquisitions, including representing a Fortune 100 company in mediation related to a nearly $7 billion sale of one of its businesses. He has also litigated to recover funds owed under note purchase and guaranty agreements. Clark’s extensive experience representing multinational corporations in regulatory matters and related civil class actions includes handling inquiries from the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and federal and state attorneys general. Clark has also defended companies in environmental litigation in the United States and internationally.

During law school, Clark served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Barbara S. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from New York University.
