Carlton Fields’ Gail Podolsky Recipient of Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance’s Intellectual Property Community Service Award

Atlanta, Ga. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Shareholder Gail Podolsky is the recipient of the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance’s Intellectual Property Community Service Award. Her contributions were honored at the alliance’s awards ceremony on October 21, 2020.

The Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance’s Intellectual Property Community Service Award is conferred every three years to an individual who has a role in the field of intellectual property and who has made significant contributions to community service.

Podolsky is an active proponent of pro bono work. She provides pro bono counsel to corporate, civil rights, and charitable clients, including the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia (ACLU), the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective, the Linda B. Pinchoff Foundation, METAvivor, and the Georgia State Conference of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Most recently, during the coronavirus crisis, she represented pro bono clients providing pandemic-related relief, such as Songs for the Soul, an organization that launched an avenue to allow donors to send supportive songs to health care workers, and the Atlanta Opera, which transformed its costume shop into a production facility to create personal protective equipment. Podolsky was also recently recognized as the recipient of the ACLU of Georgia’s Volunteer Leadership Award.

Podolsky is involved in several professional and nonprofit organizations. She was previously the president of the Georgia chapter of the ACLU, and is currently a national board representative. Podolsky is also active in the American Intellectual Property Law Association, where she is the vice chair of the trademarks relations with the USPTO committee and a member of the legislation committee. Additionally, she serves as a board member and treasurer of Startup Atlanta.

At Carlton Fields, Podolsky concentrates her practice on the commercialization of intellectual property with particular emphasis on trademarks, copyrights, patents, and anti-counterfeiting. She counsels clients on managing their brands, protecting inventions and research, and monetizing their intellectual property assets.

As chair of Carlton Fields’ Technology Industry Group, Podolsky also has extensive experience in fintech, insurtech, and esports and electronic gaming.

Podolsky was selected by the Daily Business Review as a “Most Effective Lawyer.” She was named to the Best Lawyers in America© 2021 list and the Super Lawyers Magazine Georgia Rising Stars list from 2015-2020.
