Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Shareholder and Construction Industry Group Co-Chair George J. Meyer was appointed to the American College of Construction Lawyers’ (ACCL) Board of Governors at the organization’s annual meeting, held on February 20-23, 2020, in Tucson, Arizona. He will serve a three-year term.
The ACCL is a national organization of lawyers who have demonstrated skill, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice or teaching of construction law. Meyer is a Fellow of the organization, along with Carlton Fields’ construction Shareholders Luis Prats, Joseph A. McManus, Jr., and Wm. Cary Wright.
Carlton Fields is one of only five law firms in the nation with four or more lawyers who are Fellows of the preeminent American College of Construction Lawyers. In total, seven Carlton Fields lawyers and alumni have been inducted as ACCL Fellows.
Meyer has extensive experience representing owners, developers, contractors, and designers on large, complex development projects. He handles all types of construction and real estate transactions, including the preparation, negotiation, awarding, closing, and administration of development agreements, construction contracts, design-build contracts, construction management agreements, purchase and sale contracts, option agreements, easements, leases, operating and maintenance agreements, and project financing facilities.
He has helped clients resolve all manner of contract claims and disputes, including design and construction deficiencies, delay claims, change orders, additional services, construction liens, and bond and insurance claims.
Meyer is board certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar. He is consistently rated as one of the top construction lawyers in Florida, including having previously been awarded The Florida Bar Construction Law Committee’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. Meyer is also a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
