Carlton Fields’ Shareholders Chris Coutroulis and Julianna Thomas McCabe were quoted in Inside Counsel’s article, “With Class Actions Getting Pricier, Companies Are Adopting New Tactics.”
“Increased spending on class action defense has forced corporate counsel to alter their strategies,” said Coutroulis, who directs the firm’s annual Class Action Survey. “We see counsel approaching class action litigation more holistically — analyzing business impact with more of a strategic approach and less of a sole focus on the dollars and cents that an aggressive defense entails.”
McCabe, who heads the firm’s national class actions practice, said one way corporate counsel manage class actions is by using early case assessment. “Early case assessment remains a key strategy. The data indicate that companies now recognize this fact almost universally,” she said.
