Chan is the seventh real estate attorney to join the firm in the last three months. In December, Carlton Fields welcomed a team of five Washington, D.C., lawyers with extensive experience representing public and private mortgage lenders on all Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and HUD/FHA financing products. Specifically, in Atlanta, one-third of Carlton Fields’ attorneys practice in real estate. Their deep bench of experience includes real property acquisition, development, financing, leasing, ownership, use, transfer, and hospitality.
Chan represents owners, developers, and investors in a variety of commercial real estate transactions with an emphasis on the purchase and sale of both improved and unimproved property, financing, and development. She also advises lenders in financing transactions and negotiates commercial leases for tenant and landlord clients. Chan drafts and negotiates primary transaction documents including purchase and sale agreements, notes, guarantees, and loan agreements. In addition, Chan has experience representing financial institutions in Small Business Administration (SBA) lending compliance.
Chan is also part-time faculty at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, where she teaches an undergraduate business law class entitled The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business.
Prior to entering private practice, Chan was an Assistant District Attorney in Hall County where she represented the State of Georgia in felony prosecutions, including serving as lead counsel in jury trials.
Chan earned her J.D. from Emory University School of Law and her B.A. in finance from Georgia State University. She is fluent in Russian.
