Darnesha Carter

Darnesha Carter's practice focuses on commercial litigation. She has experience with a variety of federal and state law issues, and she has worked on matters involving employment, health care, construction, product liability, and local government law.

Darnesha’s litigation experience includes defending corporations in class actions. In a recent WARN Act putative class action, she was instrumental in securing an early voluntary dismissal with prejudice in favor of her client, without the expense of motion practice and extended litigation. She also has experience handling multijurisdictional and securities-related class actions in state and federal court. Darnesha regularly writes on current trends involving class actions and the Class Action Fairness Act and is a frequent contributor to the firm’s Classified: The Class Action Blog.

Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Darnesha served as a senior law clerk to the Honorable Mary S. Scriven of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. There, she conducted legal research, drafted orders, managed and monitored a portion of the case docket, and assisted the Eleventh Circuit Pattern Jury Instruction Committee. Darnesha was the valedictorian of her class at Stetson University College of Law, the first African American woman in the school's history to achieve that honor. She was also awarded the Edward D. Foreman Most Distinguished Student Award, which recognizes one student each year for his or her passion for the legal profession, commitment to serve the family of human kind, and being the best all-around student.
