Overview
James Czodli concentrates his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and construction litigation. He represents financial institutions, investment firms, developers, and entrepreneurs in breach of contract claims, foreclosure actions, and business tort cases.
James’ commercial litigation experience includes defending and pursuing claims for tortious interference, violations of state unfair practices acts (such as FDUTPA), and civil RICO claims. His real property litigation experience includes commercial foreclosures and complex property ownership disputes. The cases James handles are frequently related to the construction industry, and he continues to practice construction litigation representing developers in both defect claims and claims related to professional negligence.
Prior to joining Carlton Fields, he was an attorney in the Coral Gables office of a highly respected Florida construction and real estate firm. A third-generation attorney originally from Buffalo, New York, James came to Miami to forge his own path in the practice of law over a decade ago. He stays active in his adoptive community through programs such as Leadership Miami and serving as a mentor to law students at his alma mater.
