Overview
Yelena Abalmazova Chan represents numerous bank and non-bank lenders in connection with originating, negotiating, and documenting various types of financing, including bridge, construction, permanent and mezzanine loans for multifamily, hotel, health care, office, and retail projects.
She also represents owners, developers, and investors in a variety of commercial real estate transactions with an emphasis on the purchase and sale of both improved and unimproved property, financing, and development.
In addition, Yelena assists master and special loan servicers in a wide range of servicing related matters, including loan modifications, restructuring, loan workouts, and the disposition of REO properties.
Yelena is part-time faculty at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, where she teaches an undergraduate business law class, The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business.
Prior to entering private practice, Yelena was an assistant district attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit, where she represented the state of Georgia in felony prosecutions, including serving as lead counsel in jury trials.
She is fluent in Russian.
