Overview
William Gruitza is a health care attorney and certified compliance professional with a decade of legal and compliance leadership experience. He has extensive provider-based counsel and compliance and privacy officer experience, particularly in enterprise-level compliance program development, implementation, and management.
William provides legal counsel on a wide range of issues, including corporate transactions, federal health care program requirements, physician contracts, value-based care, mergers and acquisitions, health care fraud and abuse, telemedicine, data security, and patient privacy regulations.
William’s background is varied, holding various in-house counsel, chief compliance officer, and privacy officer roles with a wide range of health care organizations. Prior to joining Carlton Fields, William served as the vice president of legal and compliance for one of Florida’s largest value-based care platforms and as the compliance and privacy officer for one of Palm Beach County’s premier regional medical centers. Prior to that, he spent four years as the hospital compliance and privacy officer for Tenet Healthcare, where he managed the compliance programs for multiple hospitals and affiliated patient care and diagnostic centers.
In addition to compliance, William’s legal background includes time spent with globally recognized academic research institutions and medical centers, having served as corporate compliance counsel with the Cleveland Clinic Florida and as a law clerk with the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine’s Office of General Counsel.
William is certified in health care compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association and is a Florida CME lecturer on medical ethics, law, and policy.
