Overview
Coy Stull is an intellectual property attorney with experience in all stages of federal court litigation, including trials and appeals.
Coy represents both owners and accused infringers in federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and Patent and Trademark Office administrative proceedings (PTAB/TTAB). He litigates cases in a wide variety of technological areas, including consumer products, industrial processes, nanomaterials, polymers, pharmaceutical compositions, methods of drug delivery and treatment, small molecules, natural products, medical diagnostic devices, and veterinary products. Coy has extensive experience in life science technologies, including pharmaceutical litigation related to the Hatch-Waxman Act. Coy also handles trademark, copyright, and unfair competition disputes, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. A registered patent attorney, Coy advises clients regarding patent and trademark applications, prosecution, inter partes review (IPR), and ex parte reexaminations. Coy also prepares opinions relating to infringement and validity.
Outside of his intellectual property practice, Coy devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono matters. He has represented several veterans seeking service-related disability benefits before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He also has represented tenants and family law clients at trial and hearings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Coy frequently volunteers at the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center’s Landlord and Tenant Resource Center and Small Business Advice Clinics.
Coy is board certified in Intellectual Property Law by The Florida Bar.
