Of Counsel

Overview

Jeff Williams is a senior trial lawyer whose practice is concentrated on the representation of insurance companies and financial institutions in litigation matters in federal and state courts.

Jeff most recently was involved in the defense of a nationwide class action case in federal court in Minneapolis. The case involved allegations of wrongdoing in connection with the marketing and sale of certain annuity products and grew to be one of the largest class actions against an insurance company, implicating more than 400,000 policies. After a three-week trial, the jury found that the insurer's conduct had not caused loss or damage to any class member and returned a defense verdict.

In other recent matters, Jeff was involved in a six-week trial in Tennessee in which the firm's team received a defense verdict and a counterclaim award for its financial institution client in excess of $70 million. He also defended a "vanishing premium" case in Boston in which the jury returned a verdict in favor of his life insurance company client.

Jeff also has experience in professional liability litigation involving directors and officers, accountants, and lawyers, and has represented insurance companies and financial institutions in bankruptcy litigation matters throughout the United States.
