Zachary Ludens is a litigator. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Mr. Ludens has experience in all phases of complex litigation, from advising clients before suits are filed to assisting them through the appellate stage. Mr. Ludens works with clients in diverse industries, but has particular interest in the finance, insurance, intellectual property, and technology sectors.
Mr. Ludens advises insurance clients on issues related to insurance policy regulation and coverage once policies are issued and potential claims submitted. He works with the firm’s property and casualty insurance clients and has assisted clients in this space with in first-party and third-party coverage disputes.
In addition, Mr. Ludens has experience in intellectual property cases. His work for clients includes issuing and responding to cease and desist letters and prosecuting cases for trademark infringement. Recently, he was part of the firm’s trial team in a Southern District of Florida trademark infringement action in which the firm’s client prevailed at trial and achieved a permanent injunction against the trademark infringer and cybersquatter.
Mr. Ludens has also handled class action cases. For example, in one matter, Mr. Ludens assisted in jointly settling a consumer class action along with a federal investigation of the client. In that case, Mr. Ludens worked on behalf of the client through completion of the appellate proceedings.
Mr. Ludens frequently writes and speaks on a variety of topics, including cutting-edge legal issues, such as those arising from data breaches, the use of drones, and the development of driverless cars. Additionally, Mr. Ludens is committed to civic engagement. He serves as a Young Leader with the United Way, is a member of the United Way LINC Executive Committee, and is on the Education and Technology Committees of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ludens also serves as the Student Recruitment Chair for the University of Miami School of Law Young Alumni Committee.
