Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Miami attorney Edith G. Osman was selected as one of the American Bar Association’s 100 Women Who Inspire Us. She was honored at the ABA’s annual Women in Litigation Joint CLE Conference in Chicago.

“Edith is a leader who inspires other women who are following in her footsteps,” wrote Osman’s colleagues in their nomination letter. “As a past president of The Florida Bar, she is always looking for opportunities to introduce other women lawyers to bar leadership. She is a mentor to many and truly embraces all aspects of being a well-rounded lawyer.”

Osman is deeply involved in the legal community. She was the second female president of The Florida Bar. She also served as president of numerous other bar associations including the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society, and the First Family Law American Inn of Court. Within the ABA, she is the State Delegate for Florida, a member of the Nominating Committee and the House of Delegates Steering Committee. She holds positions on boards including the University of Miami Law School, Executive Committee of the Anti-Defamation League, the ABA Fund for Justice and Education, Temple Beth Am, Florida’s Children First, and the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach.

At Carlton Fields, Osman’s practice includes matrimonial law, business litigation, and mediation. She has significant experience representing clients in dissolution of marriage proceedings, resolving complex family law disputes, post-divorce modifications and enforcement proceedings, child custody and time-sharing disputes, equitable distribution of marital assets, negotiating and drafting pre- and postnuptial agreements, and paternity actions.

Osman is a trained family law collaborative professional who works with teams of neutral mental health and financial experts to resolve family law cases out of court. She is also a Florida Supreme Court certified civil and family law mediator.
