Capitol e-Report - House Speaker-Designate Cretul Makes Changes

Rep. Ron Reagan, an independent insurance agent from Sarasota, was appointed House Speaker pro tempore today by Republican Speaker-designate Larry Cretul.  Reagan was chair of the House council which handled insurance the last two sessions.

Reagan assumes the spot which was held by Cretul, of Ocala, until last week when Speaker Ray Sansom, R-Fort Walton Beach, stepped down because he is the subject of a grand jury investigation into his connection with an area community college.

Cretul today also appointed Dean Cannon, who is designated to be speaker in 2010, as chair of a new Strategic & Economic Planning Council. Cannon is from Winter Park.

Ellyn Bogdanoff, Fort Lauderdale, was appointed Finance & Tax Council chair, the post which had been held by Cannon.

Sansom was named chair of the Government Accountability Act Council, succeeding Bogdanoff, and made a member of the Rules and Finance & Tax Committees.
