Enviros Lose Bid to Block Oil Exploration in Big Cypress

Carlton Fields Shareholder Neal McAliley was quoted in the E&E News article, “Enviros Lose Bid to Block Oil Exploration in Big Cypress.” A federal judge ruled that the National Park Service did not violate federal law when it allowed Burnett Oil Co.’s oil surveying plans in Big Cypress National Preserve. A consortium of environmental groups had sued to overturn the decision.

McAliley said, “We are grateful to the Court for today’s ruling, which found for the defendants on every issue. The regulatory agencies approved Burnett’s seismic survey after a lengthy review, and found that the survey will not cause significant environmental impacts and can be done consistent with protection of the Big Cypress National Preserve.”
