Florida Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Allied Vets Attorney

Carlton Fields Shareholder Peter Webster was quoted in the Law 360 article, “Fla. Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Allied Vets Atty.” Florida state prosecutors declined to retry their case against Peter Mathis, whose conviction for helping Allied Veterans of the World run a $300 million illegal gambling ring was overturned by an appeals court. Webster, who represented Mathis, told the publication it was a “victory for the independence of the American lawyer. Our position has always been that our client was merely offering legal advice to his client.”
