Pink Wave? Women Are Running in Record Numbers in 2018

Carlton Fields Shareholder Fentrice Driskell was featured in the Tampa Bay Creative Loafing article, “Pink Wave? Women Are Running in Record Numbers in 2018,” discussing the rise in the number of female candidates running for public office.

The article reveals that more women than ever, most notably in the Democratic Party, have filed to run for county, state, and federal legislative seats, bringing about a “blue wave” with “shades of pink.”

Many attribute the upswing in female candidates to a growing desire for diversity in the government, a call that particularly resonates during the current presidential administration.

Driskell, a business litigator who holds degrees from Harvard and Georgetown Law, is running for Florida’s 63rd House District seat.

“I stepped up to serve because we need a legislature that accounts for all voices, not just the powerful few. As women, we want to bring our talents, good judgment, and focus to develop common sense solutions to the challenges we face every day in Florida,” Driskell said.
