Trend Reversal: Corporate Attorney Bucks Tradition

Carlton Fields health care attorney Jonathan "Tre" Dixon was featured in The Business Observer article, "Trend Reversal: Corporate Attorney Bucks Tradition." The article discusses Dixon’s recent move to join the firm following his in-house role as senior vice president of compliance legal and risk management at Tampa General Hospital.

It is common for attorneys to gain experience at law firms and then take their talents to in-house companies, but Dixon made the opposite move, transitioning from an in-house lawyer at one of the area's largest health care organizations to Carlton Fields' rapidly growing health care practice.

Dixon explains that by going against the norm, he is able to help a variety of clients navigate the ever-complex and ever-changing legal and regulatory issues in the health care field, with the added benefit of drawing upon the firm's wealth of talent and resources, such as Marguerita Brunson Sims, former in-house counsel for WellCare Health Plans Inc.

“What makes this transition so rewarding is the ability to problem-solve and provide solutions for a more diverse group of clients,” said Dixon. "I get to appear to be the hero for a number of different clients, but that’s because of the wealth of knowledge that we have as a law firm."
