Caycee Hampton Quoted in Law360: “Top Product Liability Cases of 2023”

Caycee Hampton was quoted in Law360, in an article titled “Top Product Liability Cases of 2023.” The article discusses the past year’s leading product liability decisions regarding 3M combat earplugs, Tesla’s autopilot technology, and a class action suit regarding forever chemicals.

Hampton commented on the Sixth Circuit reversal of a lower court's order certifying a class of 11 million Ohio residents who claim that chemical companies endangered their health by making chemicals with PFAS, or so-called forever chemicals.

“Cases for medical monitoring, where plaintiffs are trying to allege that 'it is likely that I will suffer a harm in the future,' that's where the Rule 702 gatekeeping function is going to be so essential, so the courts are able to sort out what are true potential future injuries from which are not," Hampton said.
