Gina Alsdorf Interviewed in Law360: “What to Know About DOL's Benefits Enforcement Update”

Gina Alsdorf was interviewed in Law360 in an article titled “What to Know About DOL's Benefits Enforcement Update.” The article discusses updated enforcement guidance recently issued by the employee benefits arm of the U.S. Department of Labor, which highlights the agency's goal of shifting to focus more on breaches of the fiduciary duty of loyalty under federal benefits law.

"This really focuses on significant harms, the bad faith actors who self-deal or misappropriate," Alsdorf said.

The guidelines also address investigation time limits, as the agency commits to a responsive and timely enforcement program. "I've seen cases that have gone seven or eight years before, and there's really no good justification for that in my mind," Alsdorf said.
