Carlton Fields Expands Property & Casualty Insurance Practice with Addition of Shareholder J. Robert

New York, NY – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that J. Robert MacAneney has joined the firm’s New York office as a shareholder. He will serve as a member of the firm’s Insurance industry group and Property and Casualty Insurance practice group.

MacAneney was previously a partner in the New York office of Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck, LLP. Prior to that he served as in-house counsel for American International Group, Inc. (AIG). He has more than 25 years of experience representing the insurance industry in a wide range of liability and coverage law matters, both as in-house counsel and in private practice. This dual experience provides his clients with a unique and comprehensive approach to claim handling and litigation. His litigation experience includes numerous trials, appeals, and mediations in courts across the United States. MacAneney has expertise in financial lines liability. He has extensive experience providing coverage opinions, monitoring high profile matters, and litigating bad faith and coverage actions for insurers and reinsurers throughout the country.

MacAneney received his B.A. from Brown University and his J.D. from New York Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut and the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
