Jeffrey Michael Cohen Served on the Faculty of the Advanced International Advocacy Course at Oxford University’s Keble College

Jeffrey Michael Cohen, a shareholder in Carlton Fields’ Miami office and a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar, served on the faculty of the South Eastern Circuit Bar Mess Foundation Advanced International Advocacy Course at Oxford University’s Keble College in Oxford, England. Barristers (attorneys who practice in the English law system) from Canada, England, Ireland, Jamaica, Namibia, Scotland, and many other countries, attended the weeklong course, from August 28 to September 2, 2017.

The course provided barristers with training in courtroom advocacy by using the “learning by doing” method. The participants were provided with case files and asked to perform various courtroom exercises. The performances were videotaped and critiqued by faculty. The faculty then offered demonstrations and suggestions on techniques that could improve the performances.

Cohen frequently serves on the faculty of various programs that focus on courtroom advocacy skills, including The Florida Bar Advanced Advocacy Program in Gainesville, Fla. and litigation skills courses at the University of Miami, Nova Southeastern University and the University of Florida. Cohen specializes in trials and appeals of matters involving insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, and complex commercial disputes.
