Rachel A. Oostendorp Joins Carlton Fields in Miami

Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Rachel A. Oostendorp has joined the firm as an associate in its Miami office. She is a member of the firm’s Appellate Practice and Trial Support practice group.

Before joining the firm, Oostendorp served as a law clerk to the Honorable Adalberto Jordan, U.S. Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, from 2016 to 2017. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Beth Bloom, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida, from 2015 to 2016.

Oostendorp was a fellow with Georgetown University Law Center’s Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program from 2014 to 2015. She drafted policy briefs on topics such as the criminalization of HIV, Ebola, and maternal mortality, and coordinated advocacy strategy in United Nations forums.

She earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was the recipient of the G. Kirk Haas Humanitarian Scholarship and the Merit and Public Interest Scholarship. She was also a member of the University of Miami Law Review.

Oostendorp received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and her B.A., with distinction, in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Michigan.
