Brendan N. Gooley Joins Carlton Fields in Hartford

Hartford, Conn. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Brendan N. Gooley has joined the firm as an associate in its Hartford office.

As a member of the firm’s Life Insurance & Annuity Litigation practice group, Gooley represents insurers in a number of complex litigation matters, including class actions. He is also active in the firm’s Property & Casualty Insurance and Labor & Employment practice groups, where he focuses on various litigation issues. In particular, Gooley helps defend colleges and universities, as well as secondary schools, in an array of employment and education litigation matters.

Before joining the firm, Gooley served as a law clerk to the Honorable Christopher F. Droney, U.S. Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 2017. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Andrew J. McDonald, Connecticut Supreme Court Justice, from 2015 to 2016. In 2014, Gooley was a summer associate at Carlton Fields’ Hartford office.

He earned his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board and the Managing Editor of the Connecticut Law Review.

Gooley received his B.A., summa cum laude, in History and Political Science from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
