Carlton Fields Names a New Office Managing Shareholder to Lead Its Tampa Office

Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Tampa Shareholder Luis “Lu” Prats has been named office managing shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office. He succeeds Tampa Shareholder Nathaniel L. Doliner, who served for 12 years.

Sasso, President and CEO of Carlton Fields. “We look forward to continued successes with Lu, who has ably and energetically served the firm in key leadership positions for the past 16 years.”

During Doliner’s tenure as Tampa office managing shareholder, he chaired the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. He will continue his full time practice at Carlton Fields as a leading corporate and M&A attorney. 

Doliner commented, “During my tenure as office managing shareholder of our Tampa office, we have experienced significant growth, positioning ourselves as the firm’s largest office, and we have continued the core values of the firm, including providing great service to our clients. Lu brings a wealth of talent to this position and he has proven leadership, business, and client development skills.”

Top-level leadership and commitment are not new to Prats. Since 2006 he has chaired the firm’s national Construction practice group. He is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and he is involved in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, The Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association. In 2017, Prats was named a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL). The ACCL is a national organization of lawyers who have demonstrated skill, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice, or in the teaching, of construction law, and who are dedicated to excellence in the specialized practice of construction law. Membership is by invitation only upon nomination and election.

Prats is a board certified construction lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. He represents public and private owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals on all types of construction matters. He has tried, arbitrated or mediated hundreds of construction disputes over the years. Prats lectures regularly on the subject of construction law and has published or presented numerous papers on the subject. He is also a contributing author of three books on construction law.

Prats earned his a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and his B.A. from Stetson University. He has been honored for his longtime service to Stetson University. In 2007 he was elected to serve on the Stetson Board of Trustees. From 2014 to 2017, he chaired that board. Prats also has served a chair of the Committee on Trusteeship and he is a past president of the Stetson University Alumni Association. He is the recipient of the 2006 Paul M. May Meritorious Service Award by the Stetson Lawyers Association.
