Carlton Fields Adds Two Litigators in Tampa
Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Darnesha K. Carter and Luigi Orengo, Jr. have joined the firm’s Tampa office as litigation associates.
Their addition augments the firm’s National Trial Practice Group, a team of more than 150 attorneys across 11 offices. The firm is consistently identified as the “best of the best” in complex commercial litigation, ranking as a top firm in the recently released 2020 BTI Litigation Outlook, as well as the 2019 U.S. News - Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” list.
Carter is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Section of the National Trial Practice Group. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation. She has experience with a variety of federal and state law issues, and has worked on matters involving employment, health care, and local government law. Carter was previously a senior judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mary S. Scriven of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She also served as a summer associate at Carlton Fields.
Carter earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law. She was the class valedictorian, the first African American woman in the school’s history to achieve the honor. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Florida A&M University.
Orengo is a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy Creditors’ Rights Section of the National Trial Practice Group. He handles matters involving issues such as fraudulent transfers and defenses, asset sales, contract assumption and rejection, substantive consolidation, and fiduciary duties. Prior to joining the firm, Orengo was an associate at Milbank LLP in Washington, D.C. His career history also includes serving as a teaching fellow at the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, serving as a Supreme Court and Policy intern at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and serving as a judicial intern to the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Orengo earned his J.D., cum laude, from Howard University School of Law, where he was the class president and the Senior Submissions Editor for the Howard Law Journal. He received his B.A. from the University of South Florida.
Orengo is admitted in New York and the District of Columbia (until admission in Florida, any work on Florida matters supervised in accordance with Rule 4-5.3).
