Litigator Casey R. McGowan Joins Carlton Fields in West Palm Beach

McGowan joins a practice that defends Fortune 100 manufacturers in high-stakes mass tort and product liability litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. Prior to joining Carlton Fields, McGowan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael P. Boggs of the Supreme Court of Georgia, where she drafted opinions interpreting and applying both state and federal law and analyzed the arguments of experienced appellate advocates. Before that, she was a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
During law school, McGowan served as a student attorney for the Barton Juvenile Defender Clinic, where she represented child clients in juvenile court and provided legal advocacy in school disciplinary hearings. She also worked as a legal extern at the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, as a legal intern at the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, and as the Janet D. Steiger Fellow at the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection.
McGowan earned her J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law, where she was the Notes and Comments Editor of the Emory Law Journal. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Lindsey Wilson College. McGowan has been published in the Emory Law Journal and in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ journal, The Champion.
