Carlton Fields’ Wm. Cary Wright Appointed Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law
Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Shareholder Wm. Cary Wright was appointed chair-elect of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Construction Law during a virtual vote on April 24, 2020. He will serve a one-year term beginning on September 1, 2020. Starting in the fall of 2021, he will then serve as Forum chair for an additional one-year term, in which he will lead the world’s largest construction law association.
The ABA Forum on Construction Law comprises of more than 6,000 members whose mission is to build the best construction lawyers. The organization serves all segments of the construction industry, including owners, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, insurers and sureties, through legal education and leadership. Carlton Fields Shareholder Lori Baggett also serves on the governing committee.
As chair of Carlton Fields’ Construction Practice, Wright leads a consistently nationally recognized group that provides legal services on all aspects of construction. Most recently, the practice ranked No. 1 in the country in Chambers USA 2020 for the 18th consecutive year. The firm’s Construction Litigation Practice earned a national first-tier ranking in the 2020 U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” guide.
Wright has extensive experience representing clients in construction disputes, including construction claims, environmental and other sick building syndrome issues, construction liens, insurance coverage matters, risk management, bond claims, and other contract disputes. His engagements have involved bridges, convention centers, stadium projects, high-rise condominiums, highways, hospitals, and hotels. Wright also has helped clients in contract drafting and contract review, including the preparation of owner-contractor agreements and contractor-subcontractor agreements.
Wright is the recipient of The Florida Bar Construction Law Committee’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also one of the few who is a fellow in both the American College of Construction Lawyers and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Carlton Fields is one of only five law firms in the nation with four or more lawyers who are Fellows of the preeminent American College of Construction Lawyers.
