Carlton Fields’ David A. Karp Named Chair of The Florida Bar Media and Communications Law Committee

Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Miami attorney David A. Karp was named chair of The Florida Bar Media and Communications Law Committee. He will serve a one-year term starting June 10, 2021. Karp previously served as the committee’s vice chair for one year.

The Media and Communications Law Committee provides The Florida Bar members with a forum for sharing information about the law applicable to free speech and communications. The committee also aims to promote better understanding between The Florida Bar and the news media. 

At Carlton Fields, Karp focuses on appellate litigation and trial support with a special interest in First Amendment, defamation, and privacy law. His work explores the intersection of social media, technology, and traditional concepts of free speech and privacy.

Karp also has more than a decade of experience as a writer and editor at the St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times). His work as an investigative reporter and writer informs his approach to trial and appellate litigation. His writing has appeared in The Washington PostThe Boston Globe, and Best Newspaper Writing.
