Carlton Fields’ Luis Prats Serves as Co-Editor and Chapter Author for ABA Construction Trial Deskbook
Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields Shareholder Luis Prats is a co-editor and chapter author of the Construction Trial Deskbook, newly released by the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law.
Prats served as the book’s co-editor alongside Anthony D. Lehman and Cathy L. Altman, and he authored the chapter on opening statements. Prats is a board certified construction lawyer with more than 35 years of experience representing public and private owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals on all types of construction matters. He has tried, arbitrated, or mediated hundreds of construction disputes and regularly counsels owners and contractors during all phases of construction.
Written by construction lawyers with decades of trial experience, the Construction Trial Deskbook serves as a resource for construction lawyers to prepare their cases for trial and navigate the unique challenges and complex technical issues in construction cases. Along with Prats’ chapter on opening statements, the book includes chapters on the art of persuasion, jury selection, direct and cross-examination, handling experts and exhibits, jury instructions, and closing. Other chapters address pretrial evidentiary motions, enforcement of judgments, and preserving the record for appeal.
The book is available for purchase on the American Bar Association website.
