Construction Litigator Tyler J. Derr Joins Carlton Fields in Tampa

Tampa, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that construction litigator Tyler J. Derr has joined the firm as senior counsel in Tampa.

Derr joins the firm’s nationally recognized Construction Practice. Carlton Fields is ranked No. 18 nationally in Construction Executive magazine’s 2021 Top 50 Construction Law Firms List. For 19 consecutive years, the firm has ranked No. 1 for Construction in Florida in Chambers USA. Carlton Fields' construction litigation practice earned a national first-tier ranking in The Best Lawyers in America 2021 Guide. The firm’s experienced team includes eight attorneys who are board certified in construction law by The Florida Bar.

Derr represents construction companies in complex commercial litigation. He counsels builders and developers in matters involving construction defect claims, liens, and contract disputes in residential and commercial properties, including single-family homes, condominiums, and hotels.

Earlier in his career, Derr served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark A. Pizzo and the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Derr earned his J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and his B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University.
