The Florida Bar Bestows Lifetime Professionalism Award to Carlton Fields Real Property Attorney William P. Sklar

William P. Sklar, an experienced and highly respected Carlton Fields real property and government affairs attorney, is the most recent recipient of the William S. Belcher Lifetime Professionalism Award. The esteemed award is bestowed annually by The Florida Bar Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section (RPPTL). Sklar received the award on June 3, 2022, at the group’s awards luncheon held at the Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida.

The award is presented to a RPPTL Section leader to recognize their lifetime contributions to the Section, the group’s executive council, Florida attorneys, and the public. The award is earned by an attorney who promotes the highest ethical standards of professionalism.

Sklar recently served as the Chair of The Florida Bar RPPTL Condominium Law and Policy Life Safety Task Force. The group was instrumental in the enactment of life saving legislation for Florida’s condominium and cooperative residents.

Sklar represents developers and lenders. He assists them with planning, drafting, and the development of residential, commercial, and complex mixed-use condominiums and planned developments. He is a University of Miami School of Law adjunct professor and a member of the faculty of the LL.M. program in real property teaching courses in condominium and planned development law. He is the director of the University of Miami's Ralph E. Boyer Institute on Condominium and Cluster Development and a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

He is also chair of Carlton Fields’ Government Law and Consulting Practice and managing shareholder of its Tallahassee office.
