Carlton Fields Adds DC Attorney to Growing Real Estate and Commercial Finance Practice

Washington, D.C. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Garland W. Gantt, III joined the firm in Washington, DC. He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Commercial Finance Practice.

With the addition of Gantt, the practice group has hired 11 attorneys, across seven offices, in five states since the start of 2022. With more than a decade of experience in real estate law, Gantt’s arrival deepens the firm’s bench strength in both national litigation and real estate transaction capabilities.

Gantt focuses his practice on a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac financings for multifamily projects; charter school projects; affordable housing developments benefited by 4% or 9% low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC); and construction financing. He represents financial institutions, including banks and capital market lenders, in the acquisition, construction, and financing of residential and commercial real estate properties. Gantt is responsible for all aspects of closing real estate financing transactions and has significant experience with the full range of commercial loan products.

A former Division I basketball player, Gantt seeks to provide the highest quality service through teamwork and a collaborative, partnership approach with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. He also uses his experience and training to help others and serve his community, including providing pro bono services to Bright Beginnings, a D.C.-based nonprofit that provides support to children and families experiencing housing instability, and mentoring law students at his alma mater, Howard University School of Law.

Gantt earned his J.D. from Howard University School of Law, and his B.S. from Bowie State University.
